Day 7: Lets do ALL the things!
The day started early with us heading down to breakfast and then right out to visit the Hagia Sophia. The previous day we had stopped at the front desk to check dressing requirements for visiting mosques since we’d seen conflicting info. The employee behind the desk said that we didn’t need anything special to visit the Blue Mosque, and that K didn’t need to cover her head (false) and we could wear shorts (also false), and that there were no issues with women showing bare shoulders (so much false!). We took his advice with cation and both wore jeans and K made sure she was dressed very modestly (basically avoiding anything with shoulder straps). Continue reading “Istanbul”

Day 6: All The Touristy Things!

Feeling much less cranky after a good nights rest, we started the day with coffee and pastries from the Starbucks downstairs before embarking on our walk to the Space Needle. The weather was somewhat overcast when we arrived, but luckily all the clouds were above the level of the observation deck, so we still had some nice views. The wind was a little too nippy for extended periods of outdoor viewing, but we walked our way around the inside of the observatory, stopping to both admire the panoramic views and the exhibits displayed inside. After seeing all that we could, we took the elevator down and wandered through the gift store (where we both picked up some souvenirs) before making our way to the next stop just a short walk away.
