Day 4: A Wine Adventure

Our last full day in Portland started an uber ride over to the Pepper Box Cafe. The cafe is a small joint, and was mostly empty when we walked in, and we quickly ordered our breakfast tacos and took a seat. Our food came out in just a few minutes, and we dug in. The meal was filling, delicious, and pretty cheap, exactly what we were looking for before heading out on our all day wine tour. When planning our vacation for 2015 K and I decided to try and use miles to pay for our tickets (now K gets to benefit from my work travel). I had more than enough miles for us to fly to the west coast, so we planned a trip to Portland and Seattle as neither of us had ever been to either city.

Porchetta Party

Two quick notes

  1. Sorry for being MIA for the past little while, it has been a pretty crazy few weeks. I’m going to start posing at least once a week beginning with this one.

Around The World in 30 Days: Shanghai to Beijing

Day 19: First Full Day in Shanghai

The better part of the second day in Shanghai was reserved for business visits to Sam’s Club and Thermo Fisher. Visiting Sam’s Club was actually pretty interesting since it is seen as a more upscale brand over there. For example the food supply is not inspected as much as it is here, so many Chinese consumers are wary about buying some local food items. Baby formula is one of these items where a western brand promises a safe product vs. a less traceable Chinese one.
